About the event

⛰️ Cherni Vrah: The roof of Vitosha and the cradle of tourism

Climb the peak of Vitosha ( 2290 m ) along a calm and panoramic route! This is the place where the history of Bulgarian mountaineering begins. We are waiting for vast plateaus, unique "stone rivers" and the feeling of freedom just a step away from the city. With a professional guide, the hike is completely accessible to anyone with average physical fitness.

📍 Route in brief

We start from Aleko hut, following the zig-zag trail, which saves us the sudden strain. About 40–50 min. after the start we pass the remains of a destroyed shelter and emerge onto the main plateau. From here, the peak itself opens up before us, and the route turns into a wide and gentle path. The final climb takes us through the moraines characteristic of Vitosha until we reach the coveted point. On the way back, for a variety of views, we will pass through Goli Vrah.

  • Duration: ~4–5 hours (total)

  • Elevation difference: about +450 m

  • Difficulty: Easy to medium

  • Starting point: Parking in front of Aleko hut / upper station of Simeonovo lift

💸 Price of the transition

  • Group hike (min. 4 people): €30/person

  • Children under 12 years old: €20

🎒 What to wear

  • Hiking shoes with good grip (the terrain is rocky).

  • Windproof jacket (The Vitosha Plateau is famous for its winds!).

  • Sun protection: Cream (50+ SPF) and quality glasses.

  • Poles: For better balance and to protect your knees.

  • Gloves and a thin hat: Even in summer it is often cool at the summit.

  • Water and energy snack: At least 1.5 liters of water.

🥾 What do you get?

  • Professional guidance on the most panoramic trails, away from the main crowds.
