About the event

⛰️ Musala Peak: The Peak of the Balkans

Climb to the highest point of the Balkan Peninsula! Musala Peak (2925 m) is the crown of the Bulgarian mountains and the absolute leader in height in the entire region. Its name translates as “Close to God” and once you set foot on the top, you will understand why. From here, a large-scale 360-degree panorama opens up, encompassing all the major Bulgarian mountains – Pirin, Vitosha, Sredna Gora, the Rhodopes and the endless ridge of the Stara Planina.

📍 Route in brief

We start our adventure from Borovets resort, from where we take the cable car to Yastrebets . From there, along a panoramic and almost flat path, we reach Musala hut , located by the turquoise waters of the Musala Lakes. The actual climb passes through the "Ice Lake" shelter (the highest shelter in Bulgaria), from where we reach the very peak along the summer path or along the rocky edge with a metal rope.

  • Duration: ~6–7 hours (total with the lift)

  • Elevation difference: about +600 m (from the upper lift station)

  • Difficulty: Medium (technically easy, but requires endurance)

  • Starting point: Borovets resort (bottom station of the Yastrebets lift)

💸 Price of the transition

  • Group hike (min. 4 people): €40 /person

  • Children under 12 years old: €30

  • Note: The lift ticket is paid separately on site.

🎒 What to wear

  • Water and food: At least 1.5 liters of water and energy food (sandwiches, chocolate, nuts).
