⛰️ Vihren Peak: The White Giant of Pirin

Climb the peak of Pirin ( 2914 m ) on its classic and most pleasant route! Vihren is one of the emblems of Bulgaria – a majestic marble dome that offers breathtaking views. This hike is the perfect way to set foot on the second highest peak in the country, moving along panoramic trails that reveal the full alpine power of the mountain.

📍 Route in brief

We start from Vihren hut and take the so-called "King's Path" . It is the most gentle and logical way to reach the summit, avoiding the dangerous sheer walls. The path leads us up through the circus and takes us to the Kabata saddle, from where a magnificent view of the Vlach Lakes opens up. The final stage is a climb along the very marble slope of the summit. The route is entirely on a path, without technically difficult sections, which makes it excellent for people in good condition.

• Difficulty: Medium (classic hiking route)

• Starting point: Parking lot in front of Vihren hut (above Bansko)

🎒 What to wear

• Hiking shoes with hard soles (the marble is uneven and sharp in places).

• Windproof jacket: At 2900m, wind is almost guaranteed.

• Sun protection: Cream (SPF 50+) and glasses (the white rocks reflect the sun very strongly).

• Poles: Highly recommended to relieve the knees when descending.

• Water and food: At least 2 liters of water and a high-calorie snack (nuts, dates, protein bar).
